Sound Barrier FM15CXA — 15″ Active Coaxial Stage Monitor with DSP
FM15CXA Overview
The Sound Barrier FM15CXA is a purpose-built active stage monitor designed for demanding live sound environments, combining a 15″ neodymium coaxial transducer with a 3″ voice coil and a 700W digital amplifier (2800W peak) in a low-profile Baltic Birch plywood enclosure. The coaxial driver configuration places the 1″ neodymium HF driver concentrically within the woofer, delivering coherent point-source reproduction with high intelligibility even at elevated SPL levels up to 130 dB. Four onboard DSP presets, each modifiable via PC, allow engineers and system integrators to optimize the monitor’s response for different deployment scenarios. The FM15CXA is suited for touring engineers, live sound professionals, and installation contractors requiring a versatile, road-ready monitor solution.
An integrated pole mount socket and rigging points extend the FM15CXA’s utility beyond the stage floor, supporting use as a portable PA system or as a flown speaker in permanent installation settings. The cabinet’s durable paint finish is engineered to withstand the rigors of repeated touring use.
Key Features
- 15″ Neodymium Coaxial Woofer — High-power neodymium transducer with a 3″ voice coil, optimized for stage monitor duty with high SPL output and feedback resistance
- 1″ Neodymium HF Driver — Coaxially mounted high-frequency driver with 3″ voice coil, providing coherent point-source dispersion and clear vocal intelligibility
- 700W Digital Amplification (2800W Peak) — Integrated Class-D amplifier delivers high output efficiency with reduced weight for touring applications
- 130 dB Maximum SPL — Capable of performing in the loudest live environments without compromising clarity for onstage performers
- 4 PC-Editable DSP Presets — Onboard DSP with four application-specific presets, each adjustable via PC for precise system tuning across monitor, PA, and installation use cases
- Integrated Pole Mount Socket & Rigging Points — Enables deployment as a floor monitor, portable PA on a pole, or flown speaker in fixed installation environments
- Baltic Birch Plywood Construction — Rigid, acoustically inert cabinet with a highly durable paint finish built for extensive road use
- Low-Profile Cabinet Design — Optimized geometry for stage monitor placement, minimizing sightline obstruction while maintaining driver-to-performer alignment
