Hosa CDL-313 — S/PDIF Coax to AES/EBU Digital Audio Interface
CDL-313 Overview
The Hosa CDL-313 is a dedicated digital audio interface designed to bridge S/PDIF coax (RCA) and AES/EBU (XLR) formats without leaving the digital domain. It supports two channels of simultaneous bidirectional conversion, making it equally effective for transferring from S/PDIF to AES/EBU or AES/EBU to S/PDIF at the same time. With support for 24-bit/96 kHz S/PDIF audio, the CDL-313 maintains full signal integrity across high-resolution sessions. It is well suited for audio engineers, DAW operators, and recording facilities that need to interconnect gear with mismatched digital I/O formats.
SCMS (Serial Copy Management System) is disabled when transferring from S/PDIF to AES/EBU, removing copy-protection restrictions that can interrupt professional workflows. An AC adaptor is included in the box.
Key Features
- Bidirectional Format Conversion — converts two channels from S/PDIF coax to AES/EBU and from AES/EBU to S/PDIF, simultaneously if required
- 24-bit/96 kHz Support — handles high-resolution S/PDIF audio without downsampling or bit-depth reduction
- All-Digital Signal Path — transfers remain entirely in the digital realm, preserving signal integrity between connected devices
- SCMS Disabled — Serial Copy Management System is bypassed on S/PDIF to AES/EBU transfers, eliminating copy-protection interference in professional recording environments
- Broad Device Compatibility — interconnects DAWs, digital recorders, and other digital audio gear regardless of whether they use RCA or XLR digital I/O
- AC Adaptor Included — ready to deploy out of the box without sourcing additional power accessories
Connectivity & I/O
- S/PDIF Coax input/output via RCA connector
- AES/EBU input/output via XLR connector
